What is “status date”?
For NSW real property titles, Terrain reads the “Status Date” shown on a Land Registry Services (LRS) Certificate of Title Inquiry (CT Inquiry) result — the same search that shows folio, Status, Edition No, Date Issued, and Status Date.
We do not have a separate Terrain definition beyond that LRS field: it is the date LRS associates with the current status/edition line on the inquiry. In many cases it matches Date Issued (e.g. when a new edition is issued). In other cases it can differ — for example where the folio Status has changed over time , Status Date may reflect when that status applied, not necessarily the original edition issue date.
This is designed as a signal to you that something on the title may have changed. For example a dealing being added or removed.
LRS disclaimer (CT Inquiry)
LRS includes a notice that, following the end of paper certificates of title in NSW (11 October 2021), real property information from Certificate of Title Inquiry and Certificate Authentication Code searches should not be relied on without further checks. Water Access Licence information from those searches is described as unaffected. Customers should read LRS’s own guidance and use CT Inquiry results accordingly.
